The Golf Channel plans on coming to Macon to film pieces about the history of Bowden Golf Course.and improvements being made there.
Commissioner Gary Bechtel made the announcement Tuesday morning during a Macon-Bibb County commission committee meeting.
WMAZ spoke to Bechtel about the Golf Channel’s plans.
“In July we approved a contract for a master plan with a golf course architect, Mike Young, and Mike is in business with Charlie Rymer – a host with the Golf Channel. He’s on Drive Time in the morning and Charlie has become interested in Bowden through Mike’s urging,” said Bechtel.
Bechtel says the channel wants to record the work that’s being put into the historical golf course, which is both Macon’s first golf course and Macon’s first public facility to be integrated.
Rymer is expected to be down in Macon on Nov. 26 to hold a youth clinic from 2-4 p.m. while crews record the progress of the improvements.
“Charlie Rymer is going to be here on the Sunday after Thanksgiving to do a clinic for the youth as well as advertise the amount of work going on out at Bowden,” said Bechtel.
The county plans a news conference at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bowden to formally announce the event.
