Macon-Bibb firefighters are working to put out hot spots after a house fire.

Battalion Chief Jeff Sanders says it happened just before 7 a.m. Thursday on Bartlett Steet and Hillcrest Avenue.

The family living there was able to get out unharmed.

The American Red Cross is there assisting that family.

The home has significant damage.

Crews were on top of the roof earlier trying to put out the flames.

Only one lane is open right now, so you should avoid this area on your morning commute.

So far no word on how it started or if firefighters suspect arson.
