Hundreds gather for Gregg Allman's final album release

Fans gather for Allman's album release

Saturday night hundreds of people gathered at the Big House Museum to celebrate the release of Gregg Allman’s final solo album.

The album, titled Southern Blood, was recorded prior to Allman's death in May.

At the release party, Allman’s son Devon entertained the fans who came out to honor his father.

Throughout the night, new songs and classic Allman Brothers Band songs were played.

Chank Middleton, Allman's best friend, was amongst the crowd and he says the new album is bittersweet.

“It is just…it’s fitting. To me it’s like he’s actually telling the world goodbye,” said Middleton.

The album was released on Friday and is now available in stores.

Mayor Robert Reichert also proclaimed Allman’s December 8 birthday as Gregg Allman Day in Macon.
