Ingleside Village to host ice cream social benefiting Macon Volunteer Clinic

Ice Cream Social for Macon volunteer clinic

Head over to Ingleside Village Saturday afternoon to enjoy some ice cream and help support a great cause.

The Macon Volunteer Clinic provides free medical services to lower income workers in Bibb County who don't have insurance. They perform dental exams, heart checks, and treat chronic illnesses like hypertension and diabetes for people who wouldn't otherwise be able to see a doctor.

Patients pay nothing for the care and any outside referrals for tests are also covered. The clinic says they gave away $3,708,711.80 in services last year.

"All of this is done not only through the volunteers, but through this wonderful community that supports us," says Cathy Snook, Chief Development Officer for the clinic. "We receive no federal or state money. All of the funds that we receive come from the generosity of this community and from caring foundations."

The ice cream social is Saturday from noon to 3 p.m. at Ingleside Village. Donations from the event will benefit the clinic.

The Macon Volunteer Clinic is also in the middle of a capitol campaign to purchase their Rogers Avenue building.

To donate or volunteer, call (478) 755-1110 or email Cathy Snook at csnook@maconvolunteerclinic.com.
