My Teacher Is Tops: Ms. Courtney Amerson

My Teacher is Tops: Courtney Amerson

Ms. Courtney Amerson has only been teaching third grade at Wells Elementary School in Macon for about a month, but she's already having a large impact on her students.

13WMAZ Junior Journalist Charlie Gottschalk tells us why Ms. Amerson is tops.

Kaitlyn Yozviak says she decided to send in a My Teacher Is Tops letter, because even though Ms. Amerson is new, she's already a great teacher.

"My teacher is awesome because when I walk into my classroom, I see a smile," said Yozviak.

Other students say they love Ms. Amerson because she makes learning fun.

"It makes me happy to learn with her," said Reid Smallwood.

Even when learning gets tough, Deterrence Holloway says Ms. Amerson can make it enjoyable.

"She always tells us to never give up because you always can do it, no matter what," said Holloway.

Amerson says she just graduated from Mercer University in May and that although she didn't always know she wanted to be a teacher, she's so glad she is.

"I actually like teaching reading," said Amerson. "It's my favorite. There's so much you can do with it, and it's so important. I like to get them up and moving, hands-on, just making it come to life for them."
