A Lamar County middle schooler had a dream to feed the hungry and worked to make it a reality.
14-year-old Donavan Sanford noticed there were no food pantries in the Barnesville area, so he came to his mother with the idea to start one.
Back in May, they started a co-op feeding six families.
Donavan's Dream is now recognized as a non-profit organization.
On Monday, he arrived at the Middle Georgia Regional Food Bank to pick up more than 30 chickens to help people have a happy Thanksgiving.
His mother, Jennifer Williams, is proud.
“He's actually taught me a lot here recently. I've always been a giver, but I've never given on a scale like he wants to do,” said Williams.
Donavan says he wants to keep his dream alive and even expand the co-op when he goes to college.
