Macon family gathers downtown to feed the community

The Fryer family fed those in need and gave away clothes and toiletries near downtown Macon on Thursday.

Jamecia Fryer says the efforts were organized by her and her family as they wanted to give back to the Macon community.

She added that many of the people they were able to serve today came from the Daybreak Center, next door to where they gave the items away.

Her cousin, Emmanuel Jackson, is an Army veteran who says he is passionate about giving back to those who need it.

"If we can go out to churches and different organizations and give and receive the goods that we really really need, then why can't we offer back to the community," Jackson said.

He added that this is not the end as they plan to give back to the community during Christmas time by giving out hot chocolate, blankets and other items.

Dr. J. Cameron Garvin Denistry on Vineville Avenue donated toothpaste and toothbrushes for today's efforts and says he would do it again, according to Jackson and Fryer.

Anyone who would like to donate to the family's efforts in giving back to the community should contact Jamecia Fryer at (478) 501-9421.
