Macon family safe after morning house fire

Four people managed to make it out safely after a South Macon home caught fire this morning.

Macon-Bibb Fire Battalion Chief, Shaun Hart, says the call came in around 6:30 AM to 1330 Triple Hill Drive.

Three adults and one child were able to get out of the house and were not injured.

Hart says, once they got on scene, firefighters were able to put the fire out quickly, but they were still dousing certain spots a few hours later.

Investigators are on scene trying to figure out the cause and see whether or not the home had working smoke alarms.

Hart says the home is salvageable.

“We did receive some heavy fire damage on that corner there,” Hart says referencing the back right side of the house. “But it's not a total loss. Fire crews did an excellent job of getting a quick knock-down. We're here now wrapping it up and salvaging what we can.”

The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
