Macon Fraternal Order of Police lodge packs Thanksgiving dinners

F.O.P feeds those in need for Thanksgiving

The Fraternal Order of Police at the W.L Sparky O'Cain lodge got to work Saturday for a good cause.

Bags of turkeys, stuffing, and other Thanksgiving fixings were packed up for those in need.

The group has been doing this for over 20 years and they give away about 200 turkeys each time.

Danny Thigpin is the Fraternal Order of Police lodge president and says the event truly brings out the holiday spirit of giving.

“We know we are doing something good to try to help people that aren’t going to have a Thanksgiving dinner,” said Thigpin. “They'll have one and then when you leave and you give it all out, it's something to be proud of because at least you know somebody is going to be sitting down eating.”

All of the turkeys are purchased with money from fundraisers the group holds throughout the year.

This year, just as they expected, they put together about 200 meals.
