MACON - Right now, Bibb County deputies are working to figure out who opened fire during an overnight party, resulting in a man being shot in the back, while he was allegedly trying to break up a fight between two women.

Lieutenant Randy Gonzalez says they got a call around 3:15 a.m. Wednesday morning to 2760 Montpelier Avenue, which is "M and M Grocery."

31-year-old Kenneth Edmonds apparently showed up at that location with the gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital.

He's expected to be ok.

Another person told deputies, a fight broke out at a party on 2811 Elpis Street, and that's where the gunfire rang out.

According to that person's report, Edmonds was trying to intervene in a fight between two women when this happened.

Deputies say neither of the two women involved in the fight are believed to be the shooter.

They're interviewing possible witnesses right now to figure out who the gunman was.

If you have any information, you're urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or call Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
