Macon man shot while looking for teens who threw rocks at his car

A Macon man was shot Sunday while searching for a group of kids who reportedly threw rocks at his car.

A release from the Bibb Sheriff’s Office says 43-year-old Gary Webb was driving on Cedar Street when kids threw rocks at his car around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Webb pulled into the parking lot of Bowden Homes on Houston Avenue to find the kids when he was confronted by a group of men.

Webb was hit in the face by the group and he began running away when he was shot.

Investigators questioned 34-year-old Gerrod Prater at the scene and found he had outstanding warrants in Houston County.

The release, however, does not say Prater was the shooter. It does say there isn’t a description of the suspect who fired a shot.

The shooting is still under investigation. Anyone with information should call the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
