Macon mayor to proclaim Dec. 8 ‘Gregg Allman Day'

A look back at the Allman Brothers history

Macon is honoring the late Southern rock music legend Gregg Allman on the weekend of his posthumous album release.

A release from Rounder Records announced special events surrounding the release, one of which is in Macon.

On Saturday, September 9, Macon mayor Robert Reichert will issue a proclamation declaring Allman’s birthday – December 8 – Gregg Allman Day.

Allman will then be posthumously honored with a key to the city at the Big House’s ‘Southern Blood’ album release party that evening.

Tickets to the release party are $25 and it goes from 7-11 p.m. at the Big House Museum on Vineville Avenue.

'Southern Blood' is Allman's final studio album. You can listen to 'My Only True Friend' off that album here and preorder the album here.
