Macon plans events for Little Richard's 85th birthday

Visit Macon has outlined the city’s plans to celebrate Little Richard’s upcoming 85th birthday on Tuesday, December 5.

The first event will take place at his relocated childhood home on 416 Craft St. in the Pleasant Hill neighborhood. 

Visitors will be allowed to tour the home, which will become a community resource center, at 11 a.m. following remarks from Mayor Robert Reichert.

There will be a birthday celebration at the Tubman Museum to highlight Little Richard’s contributions to music and Macon later that evening from 4-6 p.m. There will be contests for Best Impersonator, Best Costume and Best Dancer as well.

Rock Candy Tours will also be offering a special Little Richard Feature Tour on Saturday, Dec. at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $7 for seniors and children.
