Macon restaurant opens second location near downtown area

The north Macon restaurant, Fall off the bone now has a second location on Shurling Drive.

The first location, located at 3590 Riverside Drive, opened back in July of this year, according to co-owners Phillip "Jamai" Hinson and Laverne Whipple.

However, this isn't their first rodeo at the building at 1897 Shurling Drive.

"We actually opened a restaurant here called Jamai's Place in 2008," Whipple mentioned.

Hinson says their new venture with Fall off the bone came from the people. They would sell food on the side of the road and customers would always talk about how the meat they offer falls off the bone.

"Everyday we have ribs, pork chops, chicken wings, steak and shrimp, salmon and shrimp," Hinson said about the menu.

He added that Sundays are "soul food only" days where they sell food like dressing, collard greens, yams and ox tails.

Whipple mentioned that they also have catering options, and the Riverside location is available to be rented out for anyone to host a party or other event.

The restaurant is open Wednesdays through Sundays from noon to 8:00 p.m.

The partners say they plan to open a restaurant called Potato Time in Warner Robins, which will specialize in potatoes and nachos.

Potato Time will open at the corner of Carl Vinson Parkway and Leverette Road in December.
