Autopsy: Macon infant died of head injuries after wreck

An autopsy Monday showed that a 2-month-old girl died from blunt force trauma after being ejected from a car during an accident.

That's according to Bibb County coroner Leon Jones.

He said the child's mother remains in critical condition in a Macon hospital.

She is Laquesha Johnson, age 21.

The accident happened around 5 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Interstate 75 south, Pio Nono Avenue and Rocky Creek Road.

The victim was Karleigh Fountain. Jones said Macon police are still investigating whether she was in a car seat.

Macon police said Monday they have no further information on the accident or the cause.
