Heating assistance opens to general public Tuesday

Heating assistance sign ups continue tomorrow in Macon and Bibb county.

You still have eight chances to sign up in the next two weeks.

The Macon-Bibb EOC will offer help to the first 300 people in line at Saint Paul AME church on Shurling Drive.
Doors open at 7 a.m. on the following days: Dec. 10, 12, 13, 14, 16, 17.

You can also sign up at Union Baptist Church on Kitchens Street beginning at 7 a.m. on Dec. 19 and 20.

Applicants must bring: a copy of their most recent energy bill or a statement from their provider, proof of household income for the last 30 days, a valid Georgia driver's license or state-issued ID and a valid Social Security card or printout for all household members.

To qualify, applicants must have a yearly household income of less than or equal to 60 percent of the state median income.

That number varies depending on the number of people in your household.
