New downtown Macon record store opens

A new record store that features used vinyl and independent recordings from local musicians opened in downtown Macon last week.

William Dantzler, 25, opened Fresh Produce Records at 451 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

Main Street Macon and Dantzler will have a ribbon cutting ceremony at the store at noon Wednesday.

"I've never owned my own business, but my close working relationships with my parents and other small business owners has prepared me for this," said Dantzler.

When asked why he named his store Fresh Produce, Dantzler said, "I have this love for vegetables. I want people to eat more vegetables."

The store will host live performances on the first and third Friday each month.

"A music shop like this just recommits Macon's love of all things music. William has worked hard to start his business and we are especially excited about the opportunity Fresh Produce Records presents to promote our talented, local artists," said Mechel McKinley, Main Street Macon Manager.
