One dead, another injured in Macon shooting

Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones said one person is dead and another is injured after a double shooting at about 7:27 p.m. Thursday at Macon Garden Apartments.

That's on the 3600 block of Mercer University Drive.

It happened at apartment #2104.

13WMAZ's Kristen Swilley reported that two men were shot on a front porch. One is in stable condition with gunshot wounds to both legs. The other, shot under the left shoulder, died at the Medical Center, Navicent Health at about 8 p.m.

Jones said he is Tavarous Veal, 19, of Macon. The man who was injured is Terry Brown, 23, also from Macon.

Lt. Sean Defoe with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office said the two men were on the front porch when a white SUV pulled into the parking lot and the people inside the vehicle started shooting before getting away. Investigators believe the SUV was a white Ford Expedition or a Ford Explorer.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Bibb County Sheriff's Office at (478) 751-7500 or Macon Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.

Thursday night's shooting comes on the heels of another fatal shooting Thursday morning in west Macon and another shooting at the Macon Gardens Apartment Complex Saturday night.
