NORTH CAROLINA -- Earl Kimrey will appear in court Monday on charges connected to the death of 3-year-old Mariah Woods.
Kimrey is charged with concealing a death, obstruction of justice, second degree burglary, felony larceny and possession of stolen property.
Kimrey has a criminal past. According to the Department of Public Safety's website, he's been convicted of larceny twice, assault on a government official, and drunk and disorderly conduct.
According to Kimrey's Facebook page, he grew up in Mebane and attended Alamance Community College where he studied heating and air conditioning.
"He's a cool, laid back, liked to have fun, normal guy," said Doug Blouin Jr, Kimrey's friend of more than 15 years. Blouin said he used to spend a lot of time with Kimrey when he lived in Alamance County.
"When I heard the news, it blew my mind," he said. "I was like there ain't no way! I had to read the article over and over and over and I still don't believe it."
Kimrey is being held at the Onslow County Detention Center under a $1.01 million bond.
