Milledgeville Police issued new body cameras

Starting Monday September 19, all officers with the Milledgeville Police Department will have the most updated version of body cameras.

Officers with the department have been wearing cameras since 2014, but the LE4 model body camera made by VIEVU are the latest edition of the cameras offering more enhanced recording capabilities.

Milledgeville Police Chief Dray Swicord says, “We’re always looking at ways in which we can upgrade whatever current devices we have at the time to advanced models with more features."

According to VIEVU, the new versions will offer the most accurate forensic analysis, distance measurements, crime scene reconstruction, and ensures maximum evidentiary value when officers need it most.

MPD Patrol Commander Major John Davis says, “I think our officers will benefit greatly from this newer model. The cameras have a more extended battery life and officers will be able to connect wirelessly to a smartphone,”

The cameras will also offer 12 hours of continuous recording and wireless live streaming allowing officers the ability to record a full shift.
