Runners braved the cold rain on Saturday morning in Milledgeville for the inaugural Holiday Hustle 5K.
The race was in honor of Allison Everett, the GCSU exercise science professor that was killed in a car accident last year with her brother.
Everett’s husband, Ken, says the race was the epitome of everything his wife loved.
"She loved racing and running and biking and swimming, and just exercising. This is something I think is very honorable and it really means a lot to us and to our hearts that they would do this,” said Everett.
The GCSU exercise science department put on the event and all of the proceeds from the race will go towards a scholarship in Everett’s honor.
