Head of Gordon-based Mustard Seed charity charged with battery

A Gordon man is charged with simple battery after he allegedly licked a woman's neck while doing charity work.

74-year-old Gary Hargis is an official with the Mustard Seed Ministries in Gordon.

According to Captain Brad King with the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened on May 6.

Hargis went to an unidentified woman’s house to pray for her and to deliver groceries.

The victim says Hargis started an inappropriate sexual conversation with her before licking the victim’s neck during an embrace.

The victim then called the Sheriff’s Office to file a complaint.

King say Hargis was involved “in a very similar incident” in Wilkinson County and called the situation both 'inappropriate' and 'a vulnerability issue against women.'

Because of the other incidents, King says investigators are expecting more victims to come forward.

If anyone has a complaint to against Hargis, they should contact the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.

King says Hargis is under a $2,000 property bond and he’s been asked to stay away from the victims.
