Sarahgrace Self at ACE Academy wrote in about her teacher Ms. Karen Shelley and it captured our hearts.
Shelley teaches 8th grade science and has been doing so for four years.
She was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, forcing her to leave school for treatment.
Around Thanksgiving, she finished treatment and is now back in school.
Here is what Sarahgrace had to say.
"Ms. Shelley was always in everyone's thoughts, now here we are around Thanksgiving, and Ms. Shelley is back here doing what she loves: teaching," Self said. "Ms.Shelley always reminds us she's the reason we continued to fight. She always had a huge smile on her face whenever she had the chance to see her students. I'm so glad she's back full time and teaching science again."
"It means a lot to me this year. I can't say it's been the best year...actually I can say it's been the best year because I've come out of this all good, " Shelley said.
She says it is an honor to be recognized by this class -- a class that has given her so much already.
"This class has prayed me through a lot of things, so I'm very thankful for them," Shelley said.
