One Macon evacuee shelter at capacity

The North Macon Center for Hurricane Matthew evacuees is at capacity.

A news release from Macon-Bibb says two more shelters in the areas are accepting people. They are the East Macon Recreation Center at 3326 Ocmulgee East Boulevard and the Hephzibah Children's Home at 6601 Zebulon Road.

All recreation activities at North Macon Park and East Macon Recreation Center remain canceled until the need for the shelter has passed.

The American Red Cross still is in need of items like soap, shampoo, blankets, pillows, new towels and washcloths. Donation items can be dropped off at 195 Holt Avenue between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.
