UPDATE: North Macon jogger dies after being hit by truck

A pedestrian was hit in north Macon on Forsyth Road and North Wellington at about 9:30 a.m. Monday. The man was jogging on Forsyth Road when he ran in front of a petroleum truck and was hit.

UPDATE (12:20 p.m.) The man has been identified as 69-year-old John Phillips. According to a news release, Phillips was jogging down Forsyth Road when he crossed Forsyth Road at North Wellington when he was struck by a Chambers Petroleum Company truck driven by Aundra Macklin, 35.

According to witnesses, Phillips ran out in front of the truck, the news release states.

UPDATE: The pedestrian hit by a truck in north Macon has died. 

According to Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones, the pedestrian was jogging when he was struck at 9:25 a.m. 

The man was pronounced dead at 10 a.m. 

He was carrying no identification, but appears to be a white male in his late 50s. He also has three tattoos: a Gemini symbol on his upper left arm, a daisy on his left foot, and a spider on his right hand.
