Georgia Power plans to take down the Plant Branch Smokestack in Milledgeville on Saturday.
The 1,000 foot tall structure will be removed by controlled demolition between 8 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m.
Sheriff Howard Sills says he believes the demolition will take place closer to 8 a.m.
Traffic near the Plant Branch on U.S. Highway 441 will be temporarily stopped as well as all boat traffic on Lake Sinclair at the time of the demolition.
The demolition has been rescheduled twice.
We are planning to live stream the demolition on 13wmaz.com.
Many in 13WMAZ's audience shared their thoughts about the demolition on Facebook saying the razing of the smokestack will be an emotional day.
