At the height of the storm, Tropical Storm Irma caused 50,000 Georgia Power customers to lose power in central Georgia, according to external affairs manager Theresa Robinson.
She says crews worked 24 hours, seven days a week to get power restored and more than half were back on by Thursday evening.
Customers in the areas around Shurling Drive, Vineville Avenue and Ingleside Avenue were some of the last to get power restored.
“Those were some of the hard hit areas that had a lot of trees. So, it took some time for our tree contractors to get those trees off of the line so that we could work and get those broken poles reset,” said Robinson.
Sunday morning, they released more than 1,400 crewmen. Robinson says 17 customers are without power and that's because it's unsafe to turn it on the power due to the damages left at their home.
