Report: Man's arm nearly cut off with machete in south Macon attack

Bibb County investigators still aren't sure what caused the fight that led to a man's arm nearly being cut off Tuesday during a machete attack.

According to a Bibb County Sheriff's Office incident report, a deputy responded to a call in the 1200 block of Glendate Avenue at about 11:30 a.m.

The dispatcher told the deputy to check the corner of Glendale and Houston avenues for a man that was cut, "and that his arm was hanging off," the report states.

The deputy made contact with the woman who called 911 and she said she called because she heard someone yelling outside of her residence, the report states. When she walked outside, she told the deputy she saw Rodrico Ross yelling and telling her to call the ambulance.

The deputy made contact with Ross and asked him what happened. Ross responded that he didn't know because he had been drinking and taking Xanax and blacked out, the report states.

"Rico was not very cooperative, but I believe it was from the alcohol, drugs, and shock," the deputy stated in the report.

Investigators were able to determine that the attack occurred at 1225 Elberta Drive and they located the machete that had fresh blood on it, the report states.
