Richard Scherer has owned his home at 276 College Street for the last 30 years.
The stained glass window is the focal point of the dining room, but over the years it started to deteriorate.
He said 20 years ago, they repaired the piece of art, but this time, they did a full restoration. That’s when he called on the expertise of Jim Henigman, a glass artist from Forsyth.
Scherer hopes friends and visitors can now appreciate the window's true beauty.
“The window is a piece of history and it’s also an incredible piece of art,” Scherer said. “It’s a very valuable piece of Macon history because it was created and designed by the daughter of the Johnston Hay House.”
Henigman also remastered all of the stained glass at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Downtown Macon.
