Rooftop bar, hotel, amphitheater coming to Warner Robins

Rigby's rooftop bar, hotel work continues

Down in Houston County, Rigby's Entertainment Complex officially broke ground on its new hotel and rooftop bar on Wednesday.

Right now, all there is to see is the plumbing, but by the fall of 2018, it’ll be the site of a new 85-room hotel off Georgia Highway 96.

Gracie Rigby says the hotel will fill a need here in Houston County.

“Well, there's no hotels on the west side of Warner Robins, so that right there already tells you, and this is the fastest growing side of the city and there's still no hotel over here. So we have the land, we have the capability, and we just so happened to be able to partner with Best Western to be able to do it,” Rigby said.

Best Western Plus at Rigby's Water World will also feature a rooftop bar called ‘Gracie's: A Rooftop Bar.’

But that's not all.

Water World is expected to open next May after delays this spring and summer pushed back the project.

Recently, they started pouring concrete for the 1,590-foot lazy river. The river is 15 feet across and will have wave-making machines so loungers can ride 5-foot waves.

Nearby at Which Wich, a sub shop, manager Gabrielle McFarlane says this part of town is growing quickly.

“Well, I've seen that everything is new and up and coming, so eventually, you know, it's going to be, you know, a bigger community and that's what we like to see -- more people coming around, newer things, things like that,” McFarlane told us during the lunch hour.

The shop is one of the newer faces on this part of town, opening in August.

McFarlane says business has been steady and they definitely get customers from Rigby's.

“Oh yeah, all the time, especially on the weekends, that's when we get the customers in here,” She said.

And Rigby's keeps adding. In addition to the hotel, bar, and waterpark that'll open in 2018, they've started work on a new 6,000-person amphitheater for concerts and other events.

There is not a projected completion date for the amphitheater yet, according to Rigby.
