Salad and sandwich shop opens in downtown Macon next to Visitors Bureau

The Green Plate opened in downtown Macon the first weekend in October next to the Convention and Visitors Bureau.

The restaurant was open in order to offer a "lighter" option in the downtown area, according to owner, Andreau Adside.

He says he is also the co-owner of a t-shirt shop in the 500 block of Poplar Street called Ambitious Graphics and he eats downtown almost everyday.

"I always noticed there's kind of a lack of something a little light," he said.

He added that because of this observation, it just made sense to him to open The Green Plate.

"Custom salads, custom wraps," Adside said about the menu. "You can get it any way you want it."

The restaurant, located at 440 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., is open Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and closed on the weekends.
