Some Central Georgians still in the dark after Irma

Some people left in the dark a week after Tropical Storm Irma

Almost a week after Tropical Storm Irma, some Central Georgia are still patiently waiting for power.

Power crews continue to work around the clock, trying to restore power to the hundreds still left in the dark after Irma.

According to Kim Broun with Tri-county EMC, all power was restored to their customers by 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

Homeowner Mark Sryock says he commends the crews for all their hard work, especially being so far from home.

“These guys are out here working around the clock, so my hat is off to them. I mean they're great, they come as far as Memphis and Pennsylvania and stuff like that,” said Sryock.

On Saturday, Georgia Power released a statement saying they have restored power to 99 percent of their customers.

As for Syrock, he says he is expected to have power back by Monday.
