McDaniel appeared at a brief hearing before a magistrate judge at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center Wednesday afternoon. (see video)
He appeared expressionless throughout the ten-minute hearing.
McDaniel, Giddings' former neighbor, was already in jail on two burglary charges filed less than a day after Giddings' torso was found outside her Macon apartment.
A commitment hearing for McDaniel is set for August 17.
