A Texas trailer manufacturer will bring 130 jobs to Crisp County, according to the office of Gov. Sonny Perdue. Big Tex Trailer Manufacturing plans to build a manufacturing and distribution center in Cordele, spending $7 million over the next two to three years, according to a release from Perdue's office.
Big Tex says it's responding to demand across the eastern U.S. for its utility trailers, steel and aluminum horse and livestock trailers and truck bodies. Big Tex has purchased land next to Interstate 75 that includes two buildings totaling 174,000 square feet on 55 acres, according to Perdue's office.
Perdue's office wrote that, "The like-new manufacturing facilities and easy access to I-75 make it a perfect location for Big Tex."The company also plans a new branch operation for Tex Trail Trailer Parts.
The company plans to open its distribution center this spring and begin manufacturing operations on the site late this year, according to the news release. Associated Press
