Macon City Council members are concerned that the time they spent deciding on a one cent increase to the city's hotel-motel tax may have been for nothing.
But they say, they are prepared to fight for it.
Last year, council voted for the one cent increase to fund the Georgia Sports and Music Halls of Fame.
Now word is spreading that state legislators are divided, and may kill the resolution, or at least make some changes.
Council President Miriam Paris says State Representative David Lucas has now proposed splitting the tax four ways, adding the Douglass Theatre and the construction of an amphitheater to the equation.
She says they are getting different views from Atlanta.
She says some say that it's dead, and others say there's been a line drawn in the sand so somebody's waiting on the other side to just blink.
Paris says they are doing everything they can to let the delegation know that they really want this to happen, and want it to happen in this session.
Paris says the council's main concern is getting the funding for the Halls of Fame.
She says without the motel tax increase, she is worried Macon may lose the two museums.
The one cent increase could bring in $400,000.
Paris says time is running out, so she plans to head to Atlanta later this week to meet with legislators about the issue.
