Several employees at the Bekaert Plant in Rome had to be evaluated at a hospital after they came in contact with hydrochloric acid.
Rome Fire Chief C. Gordon Henderson said approximately 8,000 gallons of the corrosive substance leaked Wednesday afternoon.
The spill prompted authorities to evacuate nearby homes and close roads.
13 people suffered minor breathing problems but none were seriously injured.
The Bekaert plant manufactures steel wire used in radial tires.
