Mississippi John Doude and Ernesto "Motor City" Gomez - better known as Voodoo Panther - will bring down the house at the Hummingbird this Saturday. With their brand new CD just completed, this performance will celebrate the release of the band's self-titled "Voodoo Panther.
The guys recorded the CD in Mississippi John's garage over in Milledgeville. According to Voodoo's myspace page, it's "outlaw country meets juke-joint trance." And it's good...really good.
Though they're playing across the state every night this weekend, the band got a chance to stop by the Scene 13 studio. With his cool, laid-back presence, Gomez played a mean bass guitar in their studio performance of "Invincible." While the fierce Mississippi John rocked the kick, hi-hat, guitar and vocals.
Don't miss this weekend's show, Saturday night at 8:00 p.m.! It's your only opportunity to grab the band's new CD. For a preview of what's in store, check out the video to the right.

Kick the weekend off at the Hummingbird Friday night, as Conner Christian hits the stage along with Saint Francis. That show also starts at 8:00 p.m.
Next week, the Hummingbird celebrates St. Patrick's Day with a full week of live music. It all starts March 17 with a huge Saint Patty's Day party featuring Illinois band Backyard Tire Fire. Then, every night until March 21 features such bands as Holy Ghost Tent Revival, Ben Shae & the Dark Knights of Camelot, Evan Harris & Driftwood Motion and many more. American Gun ends the week-long party with a Saturday night show.
