It's the end of another week, and you know what that means. It's time for another exciting weekend of awesome entertainment!
First up, check out the best kept secret in Central Georgia as Theatre Macon presents that magical musical, The Secret Garden.
When young Mary Lennox is orphaned in British-occupied India, she is sent to England to live with her only remaining relatives, a reclusive uncle and a sickly, sheltered cousin. While there, Mary must contend with the cruel housekeeper, Mrs. Medlock. But, she also finds friendship in the unlikeliest of places.
The secret is out on this amazing production! Beautiful sets, a remarkable cast and incredible music make this one unforgettable show.
Check it out this Friday and Saturday at 8 P.M. There's no Sunday matinee. The final two shows are next Thursday and Friday. Visit www.theatremacon.com for ticket information.
From the secret garden to the great outdoors, it's festival time!
Dauset Trails presents the ninth annual Bluebirds and Bluegrass Festival. It's gonna be a good time!
The super-talented Packway Handle Band will kick off a full day of music at 10 A.M and be back for an encore at 1 P.M. The Redline Express will also be showing off their unique sound.
Check it all out this Saturday. The Easter egg hunt starts at 11 A.M., try to get there a little early to get in line. From kids activities to live music and festival food, it's a great day to get out and spend time with the family!
For directions to Dauset Trails, visit www.dausettrails.com. We almost forgot to mention the second best part, it's free!
If it gets too hot out in the great outdoors, the Macon Centreplex has a cool plan for you. Strap on the blades and jump on the ice, it's time to skate! Friday, skating sessions are at 3 and 7 P.M. On Saturday, a morning skate starts at 11 A.M., and then, 3 and 7 P.M. again. Visit www.maconcentreplex.com for more information.
And check this event out for next week. Thursday night the Douglass Theatre presents a tribute to film pioneer Oscar Micheaux with, you guessed it, an evening of film. First up, catch Micheaux's "Charles Mingus: Triumph Of The Underdog", a story of the legendary musician. Check it out next Thursday starting at 6 P.M. Visit www.douglasstheatre.com for information.
