You've heard the phrase before, nice guys finish last? Not true when it comes to Corey Pallon, T. Arthur Pollard, John Ochoa and Mike Perkins, four loud, livin' large and incredibly nice rockers who make up Atlanta's Pistolero.

Sterotypical rockers? Sure, if you factor in the fact that they're loud, sport at least one tattoo (I saw it peeking out from under a sleeve) and boast a passion for the sound and spectacle of the music scene. Did we mention that they're loud? Not so much the stereotypical rockers if you're expecting mayhem in the studio and disregard for fans. Lead singer and drummer Corey Pallon sent me a thank you note mere minutes after he arrived home post-appearance in the Scene 13 studio. Color this music devotee impressed!

As to their sound and style, Pistolero describe themselves as loud. I'd guess they are the loudest band we've had in the studio since I came on board, and probably the loudest band we've ever had visit. That doesn't meant the sound is over the top or inaccessible. The guys are big fans of the Who and Tom Petty, stating they don't think there's a single bad song in the latter's repertoire. You get the classic rock vibe when you listen, without the "been there, done that" feeling. The Who's influence is apparent before you even listen, invoked as soon as you read the title of the second tune on their 2008 release, Warface. "Sniveling Little Git" screams Brit rock defiance.

We were wowed as the guys thumped and rocked through "Monster Cable" and we hope we've managed to catch the energy and vibe. Their EPK describes their sound as "New
American Rock", which is pretty fitting. Influenced by, but not stuck in the heyday of rock, the band has a definite rock edge with a pop balance.

The guys will be rocking the stage at the Hummingbird Stage and Taproom this Saturday, April 18th at 8:00 P.M. What better way to celebrate the weekend after taxes? Check 'em out here first, their video is ready for viewing on the right. Then get on down to the show and support this energetic, engaging and LOUD band!
