ST. LOUIS (AP) -- Four people are dead after some powerful thunderstorms pushed through parts of the Midwest today.
In southeastern Kansas, winds that reached 120 miles an hour destroyed a Methodist church, a post office and at least one home.
A woman was killed when the mobile home she was in was blown off its foundation.
Two people were killed near Poplar Bluff, Mo., when a wind knocked a tree into their car. And a Missouri man in his 70s had a fatal heart attack after he and his wife were sucked from their home and thrown into a building.
Thousands were left without power. Rain and wind from the storm damaged property and flooded roads.
In southern Illinois, an emergency management official says his area may have had multiple tornadoes with "substantial" damage and injuries.
