Anytime you get to listen to great music, it's pretty darned nice. How can it get any better? When that great music is played for a fantastic cause.

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter superstar James Anderson is just one of the local talents who will be playing the "Save A Pet's Sounds for Hounds" benefit concert and fund raising event this weekend in Forsyth.

James, an animal lover, has been a long-time volunteer with the group and is hopeful that the event will be a huge success. He's playing the event with several other local musicians, including Matt Pippin, Shane Coulliard and 42 Live, which features Miles Benson, a member of the UGA band.

James took some time from his busy schedule to swing by the Scene 13 studio to help promote the event. While attending college and volunteering with organizations like Save A Pet, James is also busy pursuing his craft. He's got a voice and sound that belies his young age. Fans of James Taylor and other singer songwriters of the same era will like this James' somewhat gritty, bluesy sound.

Save A Pet, located in Forsyth, GA is funded solely by donations. Pat Corley, one of the full-time coordinators with the program, says they spend $253 per day to care for the dogs. The dogs get all of the required immunizations, are spayed or neutered and treated for any existing illnesses. The volunteers also work to rehabilitate and socialize dogs that come to the shelter after being abused.

Though the music will definitely be a highlight, there's much, much more to the event. There's a BBQ dinner, a silent auction and a raffle.

The event takes place this Friday, at the Taylor House at 261 Franklin Avenue in Forsyth. It will cost you $25.00 for dinner, the concert, the auction and one raffle ticket. If you want to attend the concert only, which starts at 7 p.m. it's just $15.00, which includes the silent auction, one raffle ticket, and a non-alcoholic drink. The event is outside, so bring chairs or blankets. Learn more at the following web sites:
