The city of Macon now holds the title of the best tasting water in the United States.

Macon Water Authority Executive Director Tony Rojas says the American Water Works Association awarded the city at its annual meeting in San Diego. They competed against other regional winners from around the country.

Last summer Macon claimed the title of best-tasting water in the state.

The authority's news release says, "An esteemed judging panel rated each water system on their flavor characteristics."

The water authority provides municipal water taken from the Ocmulgee River for the City of Macon and Bibb County. They have about 1,425 miles of water mains and service lines serving about 54,000 metered customers, according to its news release.
