Man Wounded in Campus Shootout with Police

ATLANTA (AP) -- Atlanta police are investigating a shootout between campus officers and two men at Clark Atlanta University that left one of the men wounded.

Atlanta Police Lt. Keith Meadows told WSB-TV that university police saw two men in the street with guns on Wednesday afternoon. Investigators say that when the officers asked the men to drop their weapons, they refused.

WSB reports that investigators say the men fired in the direction of the officers, who returned fire, striking one of the men.

Atlanta police say they've taken over the investigation.
