ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say they have caught a suspect who escaped from Atlanta Police headquarters after he was questioned about a shootout between campus officers and two men near Clark Atlanta University.
Atlanta Police Officer Eric Schwartz says the man -- whom he did not name -- escaped Wednesday afternoon. He says he was caught Thursday afternoon.
Authorities say the incident erupted Wednesday afternoon when university police saw two men in the street with guns. They say the men refused to drop their weapons, and a shootout ensued.
One suspect was hit by gunfire and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital. The other was detained for questioning.
