Welcome to another wonderful weekend in the wild world of Central Georgia!
All the action starts at Tatnall Square Park next to Mercer University. According to one of the festival organizers, Jessica Walden, Moonlight Miles is a little bit more than just your typical race, "It's gonna be a festival in itself...we'll have music playing, we're gonna be sharing some great movies including Otis Redding's performance at Monterrey."
The moonlight magic starts at 8:30 p.m. and the 5k begins at 9:15 p.m. Visit Bragg Jam on 13WMAZ.com for more information.
Now, there's another huge event that awaits your presence in Warner Robins. Museum of Aviation Foundation's own Bob Dubiel shares the interesting details, "
Well, this Saturday night, someone's gonna win one of these new cars or trucks or twenty-thousand dollars at the Museum of Aviation Foundation's annual auction and raffle."
"The auction," says the Foundation's Executive VP June Lowe, "is gonna have about three hundred items in it."
From incredible trips to furniture to a guitar signed by Dirks Bentley and Brad Paisley, this auction is filled with amazing items for your bidding pleasure. And if that wasn't enough, there's also a silent auction featuring more than 40 items.
Also, be sure to come hungry! According to Lowe, "We have about thirty-four caterers and restaurants in the Middle Georgia area who are going to bring a taste of their signature dishes."
Get your tickets at the door - doors open at 6:30 p.m. - and also at www.museumofaviation.org or by calling (478) 923-6600.
And speaking of museums, Macon's Museum of Arts and Sciences is having one BIG, bug-filled Saturday!
"Well, this is one of our annual family days that we do and it is Bug day!" exclaims Living Animal Curator Sharron Wilhelm. From hissing cockroach races to puppet shows to buggy-filled snacks, this day includes fun activities for everyone...that is, as long as you love bugs!
(Side note: Our adventure with the missing, hissing cockroaches can be viewed in the video to the right.)
Bug Day is happening Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. While you're at the museum you definitely need to check out the new art exhibit.
"The Museum of Arts and Sciences has a new exhibit called Pieper Power Photorealistic watercolors," explains Marketing Director Amanda Respess. "What that means is these are all paintings, but they look like photographs they're so realistic."
Peiper Power's traveling exhibit is visiting museums in cities where their affiliate companies are located. In Macon's case, that is Macon Power. This extraordinary exhibit will be on display until September 29.
For more information on Bug Day and the Peiper Power art exhibit, visit www.masmacon.org or call (478) 477-3232.
Have a great weekend, Central Georgia! We'll be coming at you next week with a full-on Bragg Jam preview, featuring an inside look at the reunion show that everyone's talking about! Here's a BIG hint...Loose Change! We'll also have a big, hairy, swampy special guest in the studio to help Ben with the show. It's not something to be missed, folks!
Don't forget to go ahead and mark those calendars for Saturday, July 25. The festival will kick off on that morning with the Arts and Kids Festival on the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail and then the signature Concert Crawl will bring downtown Macon to life!
