Wilcox County BOE Announces Teacher Furloughs

Wilcox County joined the list of schools announcing teacher furloughs for the upcoming school year.

According Superintendent Steve J. Smith , teachers will take three furlough days during the 2009 - 2010 school year.

The three dates will fall on July 30, 2009, December 18, 2009 and January 4, 2010.

Smith says December 18 was the last day of school before the winter holiday break and was already scheduled to be an early release day. Now he says students will not report on that day.
