Macon Mayor Robert Reichert spent a few day in Charlotte, North Carolina this week to meet with other city's leaders about forming a megaregion that would stretch from North Carolina to Alabama.

Keith Moffett, Director of Internal Affairs for the mayor's office, says topics included the possibility of a high-speed rail and including Macon in the southern part of the megaregion that would spread from Raleigh to Birmingham, Alabama.

The mayors from Charlotte and Atlanta also attended the conference.

It brought together officials from energy, transportation and environmental sectors to identify issues and opportunities in the area.
