MIAMI (AP) -- Forecasters say they're expecting Tropical Storm Guillermo to strengthen to a hurricane as it moves farther out to sea in the Pacific.

Guillermo's maximum sustained winds have increased to near 65 mph and the storm is moving west-northwest near 14 mph. It's centered about 860 miles (1380 kilometers) west-southwest of the southern tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula.

Forecasters expect Guillermo to become a hurricane later Thursday.

In the Atlantic, a tropical depression's maximum sustained winds are near 30 mph. Forecasters say it could decay to a remnant Thursday.

The depression is centered about 885 miles (1,425 kilometers) west of Cape Verde Islands and moving west near 9 mph.
