Animal rescue groups from Bleckley and Telfair counties helped rescue 144 dogs from a woman's south Georgia property.
The Rescue Ranch of McRae joined the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the Atlanta Humane Society and law enforcement to pull the dogs out of what they call "deplorable conditions."
Georgia Canine Rescue and Rehab adopted 60 puppies.
President Heather Zaresky says all the pups will get medical attention, including vaccinations and heart worm tests which could cost a few hundred dollars for each puppy.
Zaresky says most are under a year old and have been stuck in cages without much human contact.
"The dogs were actually enclosed in a way where you could not get in and out of the pens, and we had to cut through the wire to get in. Nobody was coming in and out, so the way that they were feedings the dogs was throwing food over the cages," she said.
She says the south Georgia breeder willingly gave up the puppies, and admitted she could not handle them.
