The Warner Robins All-Star girls softball team beat Italy Sunday afternoon in the Little League Softball World Series.

Their international opponents never really had a chance as the kids from the International City won, 4-1.

Sidney Barker pitched two innings, then the coaches took her out to keep her available down the road. Avery Lamb pitched the last four.

Assistant Coach Patti Carriker says the girls needed the win, and now they're all but assured a spot in the semi-finals. Warner Robins is now 3-0 in the tournament.

She says Monday they will face a struggling Guam team and as long as they don't drop 10 runs, they should move on.

Monday's game begins at 2 p.m. in Portland, Oregon which is 5 p.m. in Central Georgia.

The semi-finals begin the next day, and both Tuesday games will be nationally televised.

Carriker says some team members will go out for an Italian dinner Sunday night in honor of their vicitory.
